FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The Rams will take on the TCU Horned Frogs Thursday at Moby Pool at 4 p.m. Admission is free. This will be the first Montain West Dual for the Rams this season. At last year's victory over TCU, Jen Muniz set a personal-best time in the 200 IM and Carmen Gisella Cianci won the 200 Free. On Oct. 3, TCU placed third at its annual Mean Green Relay in Denton, Texas, and finished in the Top 3 of all 10 events. With the Frogs boasting 10 newcomers, both teams are ready for a fresh rivalry. The combination of these two youthful teams will be an interesting matchup. Annual Early Bird Invitational The Rams will host the annual Early Bird Invitational at the Edora Pool and Ice Center (EPIC) this Friday night and continuing all day Saturday. The teams expected to participate: • Air Force (women confirmed, men are questionable) • Wyoming (men and women) • TCU (men and women) • Colorado (club teams, men and women) • Colorado School of Mines (men and women) • Metro State (men and women) • Mesa State (men and women) • Nebraska-Omaha (women confirmed, men are questionable) • Northern Colorado (women only) • Colorado State (women only) Colorado State took home first place at last year's meet and hopes to do the same this year. With a solid group of divers and swimmers the team already is off to a winning start this season. Rams dive into season with win over Boise State Colorado State learned a lot about its team Friday night in an impressive, season-opening win over Boise State. If the 142-89 win was any indication, the future looks bright for the Rams. The dual meet with the Broncos offered Colorado State its first opportunity to gauge how its strong group of newcomers could propel the team. "What we needed was to see how the new kids were going to impact us," said Head Coach John Mattos, who kicked off his 28th season at CSU. "During our training, they've had an impact every day. Every practice is like a meet, and tonight, we finally got to see them in competition. I think they really elevated our ability to perform. It makes our team solid and really complete now." CSU won the first 11 events before dropping the final two competitions. "We really have a team, and they know it, too," Mattos said. "It was really exciting to see that develop tonight. We built some really good momentum for next week."
