INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Colorado State University volleyball was awarded a No. 14 overall seed and will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., to face Illinois State Friday in the first round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. The Rams have been to the NCAA tournament 13-straight seasons, the most successful run by any program in CSU's rich athletics history. CSU was last nationally seeded in 2004.

"I am very surprised that we are nationally seeded," said Head Coach Tom Hilbert. "Losing three of the last eight put us in a tough position for a seed; it shows that the NCAA obviously has a lot of respect for this program. It speaks to what we were able to accomplish in the middle of the season. It is a great honor to get this seed."

CSU finished the season with a 23-8 overall record and won the Mountain West regular-season title a record sixth time. The Rams faced seven top 50 teams this season and are ranked in the CSTV/AVCA coaches poll at No. 20.

"I don't know much about Illinois State except that they made a good run through the Missouri Valley Tournament for their bid," Hilbert continued. "It will be a fun match for us. We are going to have to go through somebody good. We are in a good position not having to go through some of the teams we could have been."

Playing in the opposite match will be Michigan and Miami (OH). The Rams have played both teams this season, falling to Michigan in Hawaii and defeating Miami (OH) in Fort Collins. Further details will be posted as the information becomes available.
