Final Stats

Junior guard Sara Hunter scored a career-high 28 points, but it was not enough as the Colorado State women's basketball team fell to the TCU Lady Frogs, 85-67, on Wednesday night at Moby Arena. With the loss, the Rams dropped to 7-15 (2-8 MWC) while the Lady Frogs improved to 17-7 (7-3 MWC).

Early in the contest, Colorado State kept the Lady Frogs within striking distance and TCU held a slim advantage, 17-14, just 11:19 into the contest. However, TCU began to pull away and over the next three minutes, the Lady Frogs' lead expanded to double-digits, 29-18, with 5:57 left in the half. After a deep buzzer-beating 3-pointer with three seconds remaining in the half, by TCU reserve guard Shayla Moore, The Rams went into the locker room trailing by 13 points, 43-30.

The Rams' deficit hovered around that point early in the second half and following a following a 3-pointer by Sara Hunter at the 17:12 mark, the Rams trailed 52-38.

TCU responded, as they had all night with a pair of 3-pointers. Following a layup by CSU freshman Juanise Cornell with 15:26 left, TCU began a 14-0 run, which quickly expanded to 22-3, and pushed the lead to 35 points, 80-45 with 7:28 remaining in the ball game.

The Rams did not quit, however, outscoring the Lady Frogs, 22-5 for the remainder of the game, to close the game 85-67.

Hunter's 28 points led all scorers and eclipsed previous career high of 27 set last season in the Rams' home finale against BYU. She shot 9-for-18/ from the field and was 5-for-10 from 3-point range. Senior center Marilyn Moulton scored 13 points in the contest, 11 of which came in the first half, and pulled down five rebounds for the Rams. Cornell led all players with six rebounds in the contest to go along with her eight points.

The Lady Frogs, who shot a CSU opponent-season-best 57.9 percent from the field, posted the second-best 3-point shooting performance by a Ram opponent in school history, knocking down 75 percent (12-16) of their shots from long range. Ashley Davis, the team's second-leading scorer led the way with a perfect 6-for-6 shooting night from beyond the arc.

Adrianne Ross, the Mountain West Conference's leading scorer finished with a team. High 23 points for TCU, who turned the ball over 20 times in the contest, but forced 27 CSU turnovers.

Next up, the Rams will travel to Salt Lake City for a Saturday afternoon tilt with the Utah Utes. Tip is set for 3 p.m. MT from the Huntsman Center.
