Fort Collins, Colo. - Colorado State men's basketball coach Tim Miles has announced that Stephen Franklin and Donte Poole have signed National Letters of Intent to play with the Rams beginning in the 2007-08 season.
"Both of these young men will make an impact in our program as we pursue our goal of a Mountain West championship and an NCAA Tounament berth," commented Miles on his newest players.
Franklin, a 6-6, 215-pound senior guard/forward from Aurora Central High School, averaged 19.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and led the state with 4.25 steals per game helping ACHS to a 27-1 overall record and a state runner-up spot in the Class 5A tournament. He was an all-Colorado selection by both the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News. Franklin was also a standout on the football field during his time at Aurora Central.
"We are thrilled that Stephen is joining the CSU men's basketball family," said Miles. "He is intelligent, versatile and competes his tail off. He is a winner."
Poole, a 6-2, 185-pound senior guard at Mojave High School in North Las Vegas, Nev., netted 21.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in his final season at MHS. He was a first team all-state selection and an all-Northwest Division pick in 2007. He helped guide his team to the state title game in 2007 as well.
"Donte is a young man that really excites me," commented Miles. "He is an excellent student, great athlete and a tremendous basketball player."
