CSU Tennis Players Named to 2007 All-MWC Doubles Team

This is Kirchem's fourth year and Tyler's first to be named an All-MWC player. Heading into the quarterfinals of the MWC championships, the No. 1 doubles team of Kirchem and Tyler hold a 17-1 dual record and are 22-2 overall, including a current 10-game winning streak. The pair has a 10-1 record when facing MWC opponents this season including two matches against doubles teams who were also named All-MWC doubles teams this year. They recorded a win over Sandra Zmak and Lucy Scott of New Mexico, 8-5, and their lone loss came on March 24th when they fell to Elena Gantcheva and Kristina Nedeltcheva of UNLV, 8-4, who are also ranked 20th nationally.
Kirchem was also named MWC tennis player of the week March 20th after defeating Colgate's Jackie Couture (6-2, 6-1), Dayton's Kate Mellion (6-0, 6-0) and Bucknell's Paulina Gamboa (6-0, 6-0) in straight sets, losing only three of the 36 games.
Colorado State defeated Air Force in the first round of the MWC championships today and is set to face top-seeded BYU in the quarterfinals tomorrow at 2 p.m. MST.
