Men Second, Women Fourth At MWC Championship

The Colorado State men's track & field team finished second at the Mountain West Conference Championship, while the women's team placed fourth. The men's team scored 166 points, finishing behind BYU (214), while the BYU women were also victorious (195) and TCU (152) and
Junior Emily Pearson was awarded the High Point Award Winner after scoring 24.5 points over the four days. Today, she finished second in the 100 meter hurdles (13.93) and was on the 4x100 relay team that finished third and the 4x400 meter relay team that finished sixth.
The quartet of freshman Zach Jordan, senior Denny Majerus, sophomore David Eischeid and junior Drew Morano finished second in the 4x100 meter relay, clocking in at 41.11. The foursome of senior Megan Fox, freshman Tanesha Johnson, Pearson and junior Janay DeLoach finished third in the 4x100 relay, running a 46.31.
Junior Steve Swartz ran a 3:51.41 in the 1500 meters to finish fifth overall, then clocked a 1:55.05 to finish eighth in the 800 meters. Senior Justin Hazzard was third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.29 and second in the 400 meter hurdles after running a 52.07, while Kyle Keeler finished sixth in the 400 hurdles and freshmen Tim Sterrenberg and Rob Marin were eighth and ninth, respectively in the 110 hurdles. Sophomore Kirsten Anthony qualified for the NCAA Regionals with her third place finish in the 1500 meters, running a 4:27.13, which is the fifth fastest time in school history. Senior Danielle Korb finished fifth in the same race, running a 4:28.21. DeLoach ended in fifth in the 100 meters, while Johnson was eighth, running 12.08 and 12.27, respectively. Senior Nicole Feest qualified for the NCAA Regionals with her second place time of 16:32.42 in the 5000 meters, which ranks fifth on the school's descending order list.
Cameron Carter threw a personal best and NCAA Regional qualifying toss of 185-3 to finish second in the discus, while junior Jason Schutz finished third at 184-6. Junior Jason Smith finished fourth in the triple jump, while sophomore Ryan Billups was sixth.
Freshman Jennifer Ugochukwu finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 45-6.25, while senior Haley Hunt finished third in the discus with her personal best and NCAA Regional qualifying throw of 159-0.
