FORT COLLINS - Freshman Krystyna McCright has been named the Western Water Polo Assn. newcomer of the year, the conference announced Tuesday.

Krystyna, a freshman from Poway, Calif., helped CSU to a 14-19 record in only the program's third season of existence in 2007. McCright led the team with 157 saves, including a career-most 15 against Marist.

McCright formerly played water polo at Poway High before enrolling at Colorado State.

Mike Moody coached the Rams for eight seasons, from 2006-13.
