Colorado State men's basketball coach Tim Miles added another transfer to his roster on Friday with the addition of Dan Vandervieren from Purdue University.
Vandervieren, a 6-10 forward/center played one season with the Boilermakers, where he averaged 1.7 points and 1.4 rebounds in just more than six minutes per contest. He scored a season-high 10 points on 5-for-5 shooting in a Purdue victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Dec. 22, but missed the final 13 games of his freshman year due to injury, and will sit out of the 2007-08 season per NCAA transfer rules.
Vandervieren is originally from Eden Prairie, Minn., where he attended Hopkins High School. In his final two seasons at Hopkins, Vandervieren led the team to a 60-3 record and two Minnesota Class 4A championships. He was selected as the 2006 Minnesota State Tournament MVP after averaging 13 points and 13 rebounds, en route to first team All-Conference honors.
"The addition of Dan Vandervieren is critical to the success of CSU Basketball. He is a great kid and an excellent player," said Miles. "Dan is a center who plays with great tenacity and will provide us with a physical force in the paint. However, Dan's greatest asset is that he is a great teammate. He will fit perfectly and should have a huge impact as soon as he steps on the floor."
