Seven CSU Athletes Earn Eight All-Region Honors

Seven Colorado State University track and field athletes, four men and three women, have been named to the All-Midwest Region team by virtue of performances at the NCAA Midwest Regional last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. To earn a spot on the team, an athlete must finish in the top-8 in an even at the NCAA Regional.
Junior Jason Schutz led the Rams with two selections, earning a spot in the Discus (2nd, 192-07) and Hammer Throw (6th; 195-10) events. Sophomore Alex Godell placed seventh in the Hammer Throw (195-02) to earn the nod.
Seniors Rob Watson, who won the Steeplechase in a time of 8:49.38, and Junior Justin Hazzard, who placed seventh in the 400 Hurdles (51.39) also earned a spot on the team.
On the women's side, seniors Janay DeLoach and Nicole Feest, and sophomore Nicole Feest also received the nod. DeLoach placed third in the Long Jump, posting a leap of 20-7.25. Feest placed third in the 5000 meter run (16:20.86) and Hemphill posted a personal-best of 10:29.48 in the Steeplechase to place sixth.
DeLoach, Freest, Schutz and Watson will compete for the Rams at the NCAA Championships, June 6-9, at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, Calif.
