MATCHUP QUICKFACTS
Colorado State opens its 105th season of men’s basket¬ball on Friday as the Rams play host to the Montana Grizzlies. It will mark the 30th all-time meeting be¬tween the two teams with the Rams holding a 16-13 lead in the series. CSU has won 11 of the 14 games played at home in the series. The two teams met in the season-opener last year in Missoula with the Grizzlies posting a 75-39 win. For the Rams, Willis Gardner played all 40 minutes in his CSU debut while adding 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds. The Rams have won each of their last 27 home openers dating back to the 1981-82 season.
ABOUT THE RAMS
The Rams enter the regular season after posting a perfect 2-0 record in exhibition play. CSU defeated Chadron State 94-78 on Nov. 3 and topped Adams State 81-55 on Nov. 8. During the exhibition season, four players averaged double figures in scoring with Willis Gardner’s 15.0 points per game leading the way. Andre McFarland (14.5), Andy Ogide (12.5) and Marcus Walker (11.5) also averaged over 10 points in the exhibition contests.
ABOUT MONTANA
The Grizzlies are also coming off a 2-0 exhibition season that featured wins over Great Falls and Northwest College. Montana, which was selected to finish second in the Big Sky Conference by both the coaches and media, finished last season with a 14-16 record.
SERIES HISTORY Friday’s game will mark the 30th meeting between the Rams and Grizzlies.
