This week's notable storylines...

  • Colorado State and Wyoming, in the oldest continuous rivalry west of the Mississippi, meet for the 100th time.
  • Motivation should not be a problem for the Rams this week. On top of a meeting with their arch rival Cowboys, CSU needs a win to become bowl eligible.
  • In the annual battle for the Bronze Boot, Steve Fairchild is expected to participate in Friday's game ball exchange at the Colorado-Wyoming border, getting a ride in a U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter. The week's festivities also include Friday's Border War Blood Drive.
  • For the second straight week, the Rams meet one of the conference's top two rushers. This week, it's Devin Moore, who enters leading the MWC with 111.2 yards per game. Last week, CSU held the MWCs No. 2 rusher Rodney Ferguson (100.5) to just 85 yards; Ferguson had six 100-yard efforts in 10 previous games this year.
  • Steve Fairchild bids to win the most games by any first-year head coach in CSU history. On Saturday, he can pass Matt Rothwell (5-1, 1903), Bob Davis (5-4-1, 1947), Sark Arslanian (5-6, 1973), Earle Bruce (5-5-1, 1989) and Sonny Lubick (5-6, 1993). u No first-year coach has ever led his CSU team to a bowl game.
  • A total of 16 seniors still on the Rams' active roster hope this weekend is not their last game. Even with a win, CSU would likely would need a Utah win, and possibly a UNLV loss.
