The Matchup
The Rams come into the contest looking to snap a 16-game losing streak and pick up their first win against an MWC opponent.  Colorado State is coming off of a 62-53 loss at Air Force on Sunday afternoon, when the team surrendered a 13-point first half lead to the rival Falcons, who held on for the victory.

The  No. 24 Cowgirls returned to the national rankings after a one-week hiatus, and come in to the contest third in the conference standings behind Utah and TCU.  The Cowgirls are riding a three-game winning streak that has seen victories over Air Force (60-32), at San Diego State (55-44) and at UNLV (88-78).

About Wyoming
Head coach Joe Legerski is in his fifth season at the  helm of the Cowgirls program, where he has compiled a record of 97-52 (.651), including a 44-29 (.603) mark against the  Mountain West Conference.

Legerski and the Cowgirls entered the 2007-08 season as the favorite to win the Mountain West Conference championship, returning 10 letterwinners including all five starters from the 2006-07 squad that posted a 27-9 (11-5 MWC) record and captured the 2007 WNIT championship.

Wyoming opened the Mountain West Conference season with an impressive 6-0 start after escaping Moby Arena with a 68-55 victory over the Rams on Jan. 26.  The Cowgirls dropped three of their next four contests, at home vs. Utah (60-59), at BYU (56-42) and at TCU (73-59). During that stretch, the Cowgirls picked up a 70-55 home victory over New Mexico.  Since that slide, however, Wyoming has won three straight games vs. Air Force (60-32), at San Diego State (55-44) and at UNLV (88-78) heading into Wednesday's matchup with Colorado State.

Wyoming starts four seniors and one sophomore, led by a pair of forwards in Hanna Zavecsz and Justyna Podziemska.  Zavecz, a native of Melbourne, Australia, leads Wyoming with an overall average of 13.6 points per game, while shooting nearly 41 percent from the field.  Zavecz also averages 6.0 rebounds per contest, tied for the team lead, while dishing out a team-most 94 assists and recording 45 blocks on the season.

Podziemska ranks second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.9 points per game.  She ranks third on the team in rebounding (5.8 rpg.) and shoots 41.3 percent from the field.  Podziemska also ranks as the team's top 3-point threat, knocking down 57 of 168 attempts (.339) on the season.

Sophomore guard Aubrey Vandiver also averages double-figures for the Cowgirls.  The native of Laramie, Wyo., leads the team shooting 49.1 percent from the field, while averaging 11.0 points per game and tying Zavecz for the team-rebounding lead at 6.0 rebounds per game in 23 minutes off the bench.

Overall, the Cowgirls rank third in the Mountain West Conference averaging 64.5 points per game.  On the defensive side of the ball, Wyoming ranks sixth nationally allowing opponents to score just 53.0 points per game.

The Series Rundown
Colorado State holds a 40-33 advantage in the all-time series with Wyoming, including stretch of 12 consecutive wins from 1998 through 2002.  However, Wyoming has defeated Colorado State in six straight meetings entering Wednesday's game. Two of those losses, have come in overtime.  Earlier this season, the Rams battled the Cowgirls to a halftime tie before Wyoming was able to pull away for the 68-55 victory.

Last Time vs. Wyoming
The Colorado State women's basketball team fell to 2-16 (0-5 MWC) on Jan. 26, with a 68-55 loss to the No. 18/19 Wyoming Cowgirls at Moby Arena.  Despite outrebounding the Cowgirls, 46-36, and holding an advantage for most of the game, the Cowgirls proved to be too much down the stretch, pushing their record to 18-1 (6-0 MWC).

Four Rams finished in double figures in the contest, led by junior forward Britney Minor who dropped in 13 points in just 17 minutes off the bench for the Rams.

Minor's Blinn (Texas) College teammate Amaka Uzomah shined in her first start of the season, recording her first career double-double at Colorado State with 12 points and 18 rebounds in the contest.  For the second consecutive game, Uzomah recorded seven offensive boards in a game, and her 18 total rebounds ranked as the most in a single game since former standout Katie Cronin's 18-rebound effort vs. Rice in 1999.  Uzomah also recorded two blocks in the contest, while playing a career-most 32 minutes.

Forwards Juanise Cornell (12 points) and Elle Queen (10 points) also recorded double figures in scoring for the Rams.  Cornell also added seven rebounds, while Queen pulled down five boards.
