Rams 14th after Day 1 in the desert

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The Colorado State women's golf team opened play at the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Rams closed Round 1 in 14th place with a team score of 304 (+16).
Junior Stefanie Ferguson leads the Rams in a tie for 19th place with a 1-over-par 73.
"Stefanie played very solid today with four birdies," said Head Coach Angie Hopkins. We were right there, we just need a few more putts to fall and we will be in good position for the final day."
Sophomore Kasey Claussen closed the first round three strokes behind Ferguson in a tie for 45th.
Sophomore Natalie Stone (77) and freshman Kayley Kempton (78) finished tied for 57th and 65th, respectively. Freshman Cecilia Edlund finished the first day of competition two strokes behind Kempton in a tie for 76th.
The Rams continue play at the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational on Tuesday. Edlund is the first Ram to tee off at 8:10 a.m. PT.
