- Colorado State became the first No. 9 seed to win a MWC tournament game since the field was expanded to nine teams in 2006.
- Wyoming's 18-of-20 (90 percent) performance from the free-throw line marks the third-best free-throw percentage in a MWC tournament game.
- With Wyoming up 46-40 at the 13:20 mark, Colorado State went on a 14-4 scoring run that lasted until 4:43 to put the Rams up 50-56.
- Ewing's 29 points are also an MWC opening-round record, topping TCU's Nile Murry's 28 points in the 2006 opening round (vs. CSU 3/7/06).
- Brandon Ewing's 13 made free throws ties for second-most in MWC tournament history. His 13-of-13 performance at the line is also a new MWC tournament record, topping Marcus Banks (UNLV) who shot 11-of-11 from the line in the 2003 quarterfinals against San Diego State.
- Colorado State outscored Wyoming 16-0 on fast-break points.
- Las Vegas native and Rams forward Andre McFarland ended the game with a career-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor, including going 4-for-6 from three-point range. He had a combined 11 points in the previous two meetings vs. Wyoming this season.
- With 29 points in the game, Wyoming's Brandon Ewing moved into 10th place on the school's all-time scoring list. He now has 1,556 career points.
- Brad Jones' 10 points in the contest moved him into 19th place on Wyoming's all-time scoring list with 1,216 career points.
- Colorado State's Adam Nigon scored a career-high 10 points, his previous high was eight vs. Wyoming (2/27/08).
- The Rams' Marcus Walker finished the game with 22 points, marking the 11th time this season he has eclipsed the 20-point mark.
Postgame notes vs. Wyoming (MWC game 1)
Individual Player notes:
- Andre McFarland had seven points in the first four minutes of the game, one more than he had in the last meeting between the two teams in Fort Collins. He had combined for 11 in the previous two contests against the Cowboys and finished the game with 18, a career high.
- Willis Gardner notched his 16th game with at least three assists, finishing the game with five assists. He also had six rebounds. Both marks are the best since CSU and Wyoming faced off in Laramie where he had four boards and four assists.
- Marcus Walker, the Mountain West Newcomer of the Year, returned to previous form with 22 points. He also finished with five assists.
Team Notes:
- The Rams have worn the CSU green uniforms in all three meetings with the Cowboys this season. CSU wore the green uni's for "Green Out Night" at Moby Arena.
- Tim Miles received a technical at 1:16 of the first half after arguing a call. It marks the first time in his CSU career he has received a technical foul.
- The win breaks the teams' 17-game losing streak. The stretch will go down in CSU history as the longest losing streak in CSU history.
