Individual Player notes:

Andre McFarland's start is his 31st, setting the Rams' record for most starts as a freshman. The previous mark was 30 by CSU great Rich Strong in 1983.

Team Notes:

  • Colorado State finished the year with 577 three-point attempts for second on the school's single-season list.
  • For the first time this season the Rams did not have a player score in double figures. Five players finished with nine points.
  • CSU made 196 three pointers this year, the third-most in Ram history.
  • CSU was 9-of-10 from the line for 90.0 percent, setting the school's MWC tournament record for free-throw percentage.
  • With 27 attempts the Rams were one shot shy of setting their single-game MWC tournament record for attempts.

  • Today's win moves BYU to 6-3 in MWC tournament quarterfinal games. The Cougars have advanced to the semifinals two straight years.
  • BYU shot a MWC tournament-record 65.2 percent from the field (30-of-46). The previous record of 63.6 percent (21-of-33) was set by Utah against Air Force in the 2000 MWC quarterfinals.
  • BYU's 12 three-pointers ties for the third-best single-game effort in MWC tournament history.
  • The Cougars also set a MWC tournament record for margin of victory with the 27-point win, topping the previous mark of 26 points, set by UNLV in the 2007 MWC quarterfinals against Utah (3/8/07).
  • The Cougars' shooting performance of 60 percent (12-of-22) from behind the arc is tied for third-best in MWC tournament play. Also, the Cougars' 49 points in the second half moves them up to a tie for fifth-place for most points scored in a half in a MWC tournament game.
  • BYU set a program record with 266 three-pointers on the season, surpassing the old mark of 256, set last season.
  • Colorado State's Andre McFarland moved into sole possession of the most games started by a freshman in school history with his 31st start today.
  • Colorado State's loss was their first at a neutral site all season. Coming into today's contest, the Rams were 4-0 at neutral sites.
  • Colorado State's Adam Nigon scored nine first-half points, one day after he set his career-high with 10 points against Wyoming in the opening-round game.
  • The Rams made four three-pointers in the first 10 minutes of the game to jump out to a 19-14 lead, but saw that lead disappear after a 20-12 BYU run before the half.
  • CSU shot a season-high 9-of-10 (90 percent) from the free-throw line, eclipsing their previous mark of 15-of-17 (88.2 percent) vs. BYU (2/13/08).
  • The first half saw three ties and six lead changes. In the teams' two regular season meetings, there were no ties or lead changes in either game.
  • At one point, the Rams featured a line-up of four freshmen (Clayman, McFarland, Simmons, Woodard) and one junior (Walker). While BYU had a line-up of two seniors (Burgess, Murdock), two juniors (Cummard, Plaisted) and one freshman (Collinsworth).
  • BYU's Chris Collinsworth recorded his first career double-double with 12 points (career-high) and 10 rebounds.
