FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State women's tennis team was honored with the release of the 2007-08 women's tennis all-MWC team. Senior Hilary Tyler was named to the singles team, as well as the doubles team alongside junior Lauren Strasburger.

After being named to the 2007 doubles team with partner Emily Kirchem, the Rams' only senior compiled a 14-8 overall record with a 9-11 mark in dual action. Competing at the No. 1 position for most of the season, she faced six ranked opponents during the year.

"It was one of those things where Hilary is very deserving to be recognized," said Head Coach Jon Messick. "She has been our team leader and captain. She has been a significant influence on the team. Even in her losses she was very competitive. Being the No. 1 player, she played the best players on other team, and she never got blown out. She held her own with the best players in the conference."

Tyler and Strasburger competed together at the No. 1 doubles position. The duo earned seven wins in the season, five of those in spring play. Their biggest came over Mountain West Conference action as they earned a decisive 8-3 win over No. 38 Elizabeth Ferris and Emily Kwok of Utah on April 5.

"They didn't play together the whole conference schedule and putting them back together in the middle of the conference schedule was a good thing to do," Messick said. "They responded well enough to get recognized. Once they got together and got rhythm going in conference matches, they were competitive with everyone they played against. Even in their losses, they were giving everyone everything they could handle."
