NCAA Regional Meet Information
LINCOLN, Neb. - Colorado State has sent 20 student-athletes, including 12 women from the newly crowned Mountain West championship squad, to the NCAA Midwest Regional this weekend at Ed Weir Stadium on the campus of the University of Nebraska.
The goal is simple, to advance as many as possible to next month's NCAA championships and continue the Rams' streak of seasons with an All-American, extending a string that began in 1994.
"It doesn't have to be pretty at this point," said Head Coach Brian Bedard, the 2008 MWC Women's Coach of the Year, "just place in the top five in the region and you're headed to nationals."
The two-day regional meet kicks off Friday at 12 p.m. MDT.
"I would like to see the Rams compete like they've competed all year," Bedard said. "This group of qualifiers knows how to compete and they need to continue being aggressive through the regional meet. If they can do that, good things will happen.
"With this group I expect a high number of NCAA qualifiers. We had a team dinner last night and the athletes seem focused and ready to go."
