Next on the Tee
The Colorado State men’s golf team will tee off on its first tournament of the 2008-09 season in Colorado Springs, Colo., Saturday and Sunday in the 40th annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, hosted by Air Force. The Falcon Invite will take place at the Eisenhower Golf Club-Blue Course, a 7,301-yard, par-72 course. The 54-hole tournament will begin with two rounds on Saturday starting at 8:15 a.m., and the final round will take place Sunday at 8:15 a.m. Seventeen teams will compete in the tournament, including six Mountain West teams: Air Force, CSU, New Mexico, UNLV, Utah, and Wyoming. The Rams golfers set to compete in the tournament are Zen Brown, Bryce Hanstad, Dustin Morris, Riley Arp and Justin Spray.  Ryan Peterson, Zahkai Brown and Praneeth Perera will compete as individuals.

2007 Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational
Colorado State placed eighth at the 2007 Gene Miranda Invitational, led by Bryce Hanstad, who carded a 214 to finish tied for 10th. Wichita State University won a playoff against Iowa State for the team title, shooting 12-under-par 852. Ryan Spears of Wichita State took home the individual honors with a tournament-record three-round-total of 203.

All-Conference Returners
Dustin Morris and Bryce Hanstad were named all-conference golfers last season, joining Zen Brown, who was selected to the 2007 all-MWC team. These three will lead the Rams this season as they set out to defend their first Mountain West title won last May, much due to the golfing of Riley Arp, who placed second in last year’s Mountain West Conference championships.

Return to Regionals
The Colorado State Men’s Golf team closed out the 2007-08 season with at trip to the NCAA regionals in Chattanooga, Tenn.  The 27-team tournament was held at the par-71, 6,999-yard Council Fire Golf Club.  Riley Arp led the way for the Rams, shooting a 2-over-par 215 to finish in a tie for 58th.  Zen Brown carded a three-day total of 216 to finish in a  tie for 65th.  The trip marked the 12th time in the past 13 seasons that the Rams have appeared in the NCAA regionals.
