FORT COLLINS, Colo. – On the heels of back-to-back sweeps of conference rivals BYU and Utah, and riding a 12-match winning streak to a first-place position in the MWC standings, the CSU volleyball team received more good news Monday.
The Rams (16-3, 8-0) moved back into the AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 poll at No. 25, marking the team’s first appearance in the poll since receiving a preseason ranking of No. 24 in August.
Colorado State just completed the first half of Mountain West Conference play this week, posting impressive straight-set victories over a pair of teams, Utah and BYU, expected to compete with the Rams for the MWC title.
The wins gave CSU a two-game cushion in the conference standings with the toughest part of its schedule still ahead, including road matches against the Utes and Cougars.
This week, the Rams will face a pair of tough road opponents when they travel to Fort Worth, Texas, and Albuquerque, N.M., to take on the TCU Horned Frogs and New Mexico Lobos, respectively. The Frogs (17-5 overall) are now tied with Utah for second in the MWC standings, while UNM (13-7 overall) is still in the hunt with a conference record of 4-4, and a road victory over Utah earlier in the season.
Thursday’s match at TCU is slated to begin at 6 p.m. MT, and will air that night on a tape-delay on The Mtn. beginning at 7:30 p.m. MT. The Mtn. is available on Comcast Digital Cable Channel 411, and Channel 616 on DirecTV.
