Colorado State's Amaka Uzomah returns to complete her senior year here for the Rams.
Uzomah, a top-notch rebounder from Houston, Texas, took some time to chat with the Ram Basketball Report about the 2008-09 season.
Q: In your opinion, what's the biggest improvement you've seen so far from last year?
A: We have more of a variety of players who can fill both the shooting and post positions.
Q: What are you most excited for for this season?
A: To win more games and to bring the program back to life, like during the era of Becky Hammon.
Q: What is a personal goal for you this season?
A: To pick up playing where I left off last season. Getting those rebounds and breaking records. And to be there for my team.
Q: You're a senior this year. What are your post-graduation plans? Major?
A: I'd like to play in the WNBA, or pro-ball over seas. If not, I'd go to Medical or Law school. I'm a political science major.
Q: What's your favorite thing to do outside of basketball and school?
A: Hang out with friends, watch movies.
Q: What's been your favorite volunteer experience with your team?
A: Painting a house for Habitat for Humanity. My team plays basketball and paints houses!
Q: What made you decide to come to CSU?
A: The atmosphere and the weather. It can get cold but most of the time it's nice. And the girls from last year and their team unity.
Q: Who's your favorite athlete?
A: Dwayne Wade baby! He and I both fall down on the court but bounce right back up.
Q: Do you have any special bonds with an individual teammate?
A: Zoi. She and I are roommates and we can talk to each other about anything.
Q: What gets you most pumped before a game?
A: Music. A mix of genres, anywhere from R &B to Christian and back to R&B. I listen to the words and they really get me pumped.
Q: What do you want people to know most about you outside of basketball?
A: I'm the sweetest kid you'll ever meet. I'm very kind and lovable.
Q: What's been your favorite memory at CSU?
A: Upsetting Utah last year during the MWC tournament.
Q: Do you have any nicknames?
A: Oh many. Lady Shaq from my street ball days, Moxi, Mok, basically anything you can get out of my name.
