Rams open Aztec Spring Invite

CHULA VISTA, Calif. -- The Colorado State women’s golf team teed off its spring season on Sunday at the Aztec Spring Invitational hosted the conference foe San Diego State at the Salt Creek Golf Course.
The Rams shot a 308 (+20) to open the tournament and sit in a tie for 14th, four strokes out of the top 10. UC Irvine paces the field at 1-under. San Jose State (E), San Francisco (+5), Arkansas-Little Rock (+5), and Nebraska (+11) round out the top five.
Freshman Melissa Martin leads the Rams after firing 2-over-par 74. Martin sits in a tie for 19th in the field of 108 competitors and is three strokes ahead of junior Kasey Claussen, who is tied for 40th. Freshman Brianna Espinoza is tied for 53rd at six-over par.
Senior Stefanie Ferguson (+7) rounds out the scoring for the Rams in a tie for 65th, while sophomore Natalie Stone shot an 11-over and is tied for 94th.
Sophomore Cecilia Edlund, competing as an individual, is tied with Claussen for 40th overall.
The second round is slated to begin tomorrow with tee times slated for 7 a.m. The final round begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Live scoring is available at GolfStat.com.
