This week in Rams Athletics: Spring sports begin

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Colorado State men’s basketball has a full week off before opening the second half of Mountain West play on Saturday against TCU. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. MST at Moby Arena.
Football signing day
Wednesday marks national signing day for both football and track and field.
Fans are invited to join Colorado State Head Coach Steve Fairchild and his staff as they discuss the 2009 recruiting class and the upcoming season at the 2009 Ram Roundup recruiting reception in Denver.
There is still space available for the reception in Denver Feb. 10 at the Cherry Hills Country Club. Women’s Basketball
The Rams are also off Wednesday, but begin the second half of their conference slate Saturday, travelling to Fort Worth, Texas, to face TCU. Tipoff between the Rams and the Lady Frogs is set for 4 p.m. MST from Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
Swimming
The Rams will wrap up the regular season this weekend, Friday, when they host conference rival Wyoming at Moby Pool at 5 p.m. MST. The meet is the last competition for the Rams as they prepare for the MWC championships at the end of the month.
Water Polo
On Saturday and Sunday at the EPIC Center in Fort Collins, CSU plays host to Cal, Fresno-Pacific and UC Santa Cruz at the Rams' second annual CSU Invitational, sponsored by the Marriott Hotel in Fort Collins. The Rams will play at least five games. Admission is free.
Softball
Colorado State heads to New Mexico State Thursday to face the Aggies at 6 p.m. MST. The Rams will remain in Las Cruces, N.M. for the weekend to play in the Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces Classic.

Tennis
The Colorado State women's tennis team will have the chance to achieve its goal of beating a nationally ranked team in its season opener. The Rams hit the court Friday in Boise, Idaho, where they will face off against No. 39 Boise State. They will remain in Boise for the rest of the weekend to take on Utah State and Kansas State Saturday and Sunday.
Men’s Golf
After a winter hiatus the Colorado State men’s golf team is gearing up for the spring portion of the 2008-09 season. The Rams torched the competition this fall by winning four of five tournaments, earning a Golfweek ranking of 14th in the nation. Colorado State will start the spring portion of the season Saturday in Phoenix, Ariz., in a Dual with Northern Colorado.
Indoor Track and Field
After a strong showing and a second place finish at Air Force, the Rams will return to Lincoln, Neb., this weekend as they compete in the Husker Invite Friday and Saturday.
