Men's golf opens strong at Barona Cup

LAKESIDE, Calif. -- The Colorado State men's golf team, ranked 19th nationally by GolfWeek.com, is in third place through two rounds at the Barona Collegiate Cup. The Rams, fired a two-round team total of 711 (-9) and sit just behind Mountain West Conference foes San Diego State (-23) and New Mexico (-11) entering Tuesday's final round.
Junior Dustin Morris carded 10 birdies en route to rounds of 70 (-2) and 67 (-5) and is tied for the tournament lead through the first day of action with SDSU's Matt Hoffenberg and San Diego's Blake Trimple. Sophomore Ryan Peterson also opened with a pair of strong rounds, firing a 72 in Round 1 and a 68 in Round 2, and sits in a tie for seventh, three strokes behind Morris.
Senior Zen Brown (142) and junior Bryce Hanstad (143) are ranked 12 and tied for 13th, respectivley. Junior Riley Arp (+5) and freshman Zahkai Brown (+10) rounded out the action for the Rams.
The Rams resume action on Tuesday with the final 18 holes slated to begin at 8:15 a.m. MT.
