Rain halts Spartan Invite in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Due to rainy weather in the San Jose area and poor course conditions at the Almaden Country Club, the first round of the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational was suspended on Monday at 12 p.m. MT.
The Rams, who teed off as part of a shotgun start on Monday morning, had played through eight holes on the soggy course before play was suspended.
The teams will reconvene on Tuesday morning, picking up where they left off at 8:30 a.m., weather permitting, to complete the first and only round of the now shortened tournament. Once play is completed, an award ceremony will take place at approximately 1 p.m. MT.
This is the second consecutive tournament for the Rams to be halted by poor weather conditions. The second round of the Rams’ first tournament of the spring season, the Aztec Spring Invitational, was stopped by rain and wind in the second round. Team play was completed on the third day of the event, but individual competitors, including CSU’s Cecilia Edlund, did not complete the tournament at the Salt Creek Golf Course in Chula Vista, Calif.
