FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State senior guard Marcus Walker has earned third-team all-conference honors, the Mountain West conference announced Monday.

It marks the second consecutive season that Walker has been named an all-conference selection. Last season, Walker earned second-team honors, as well as MWC Newcomer of the Year.

“Marcus has been the go-to guy for us and really carried the load for us this season,” said CSU Head Coach Tim Miles. “I’m happy for him to be honored in both his seasons with us. It’s well deserved.”

Walker finished the regular season ranked second in the conference in scoring at 17.7 points per game and finished the conference season scoring 15 or more points in nine of his 13 games played. He tallied at least 15 points in each of his final eight games of the regular season, including a season-high 33 against New Mexico on Feb. 28.

He ranked ninth in the conference in free-throw percentage (.800) and 10th in steals (1.15), three-point percentage (.338) and three-pointers made per game (2.00). Walker, who came off the bench in six of his 13 conference games played, also averaged 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

He helped lead the Rams to four conference wins on the season after the team went winless (0-16) in MWC play last year.

Walker becomes just the seventh Ram since 1995 to earn all-conference honors in at least two consecutive seasons. He joins Jason Smith (2005-08), Matt Nelson (2003-05), Andy Birley (2002-03), Brian Greene (2002-03), Milt Palacio (1998-99) and David Evans (1995-96) in that elite group.
