TEMPE, Ariz. - For their third round at the ASU's Karsten Golf Course in the Thunderbird Invitational, the Colorado State golfers settled in and combined for a 1-under-par round, after going 14-over-par in two rounds on Friday. With the improvement, CSU moved from a tie for 12th to eighth place with a three-round total of 865 ( 13).

Head Coach Jamie Bermel shared his feelings on the outcome.

"I was pretty disappointed in our first round play," he continued, "We were pretty rusty after a few weeks off. But we played pretty well in wind in the second round and played well today, just not quite as sharp as we'd have liked to."

Senior Zen Brown led the Rams Saturday, shooting a 69 to finish with a 214 ( 1) in a tie for 16th place. Brown finished the day by birdying three of his last eight holes.

"Zen had a nice tournament for us and seems to always help the team," said Bermel.

Dustin Morris continued his steady play as he finished 25th with a 216 ( 3). Morris carded a 72 Saturday morning, shooting five birdies in the middle of his round to recover from a slow start.

Riley Arp joined Brown below par on Saturday, firing a 70 to finish with a three-round total of 217 ( 4) in a tie for 32nd place.

Bryce Hanstad finished with a 222 ( 9) in a tie for 67th place. Hanstad carded a 72 today by shooting par on 13 holes, continuing his steady play but held back by his 79 in the opening round on Friday.

Justin Spray ended the tournament by shooting a 74 for a three-round total of 229 ( 16) to move into a tie for 87th.

Competing individually, Ryan Peterson shot rounds of 72, 73 and 73 to tie for 39th place.

Arizona State won the team title with a 14-under-par 838. Stephan Gross of Arizona State and Steve Saunders of New Mexico tied for individual honors, each by shooting three-round totals of 210 (-3).
