FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Erin Cooke, a standout post player at Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, the first day of the national signing period for basketball, and will join the Rams women's basketball team for the 2009-10 season.
Cooke, a 6-2 forward, originally from Billings, Mont., played two seasons at Northwest College, where she averaged 12 points and nearly nine rebounds per contest in 57 career games with the Trappers.
During her junior college career, Cooke ranked nationally in the NJCAA in both rebounding and field-goal percentage. As a freshman in 2007-08, her 9.4 rebounds per game ranked 34th in the nation and her field-goal percentage (53.15) was 48th. Last season, Cooke once again ranked among the nation's best, pulling down 8.2 boards per game, 48th in the country.
"Erin is an athletic 6-2 inside player who can step out and make the mid-range jump shot when needed," said Head Coach Kristen Holt of Cooke's impressive skill set. "She shot an impressive percentage from the field and averaged nearly nine rebounds a game."
"For a player of her size, Cooke is very quick and runs the floor well," added Holt.

According to Holt, she is an aggressive player and is expected to shore up the paint area, where the Rams lost three key players in departing seniors Britney Minor, Carine Reimink and Amaka Uzomah.
