FORT COLLINS, Colo. – With another large spring storm approaching Wyoming, the Gem City Duals meet, scheduled for Saturday in Laramie, Wyo., has been moved to Sunday.

The CSU men will compete in a dual-meet format against Wyoming, while the women will take on Wyoming and several members of the Utah Utes team. CSU has already had a meet postponed this season as the Tom Benich Classic at Northern Colorado on April 4, never materialized because of the weather.

“With a winter storm watch in place for most of the day Saturday in Laramie, the Wyoming staff decided to move it back a day and hopefully we will have better weather then,” said Rams Head Coach Brian Bedard.

The meet will give CSU a good chance to acclimate itself with the Wyoming track facility, which will serve as host to the Mountain West Conference meet in May.

“It’s a good facility up there and it will give our athletes a chance to get comfortable with the track and the facilities they have because several of our athletes have never competed there before,” Bedard said.

The Rams will send most of their top athletes to Wyoming, including all seven athletes that have reached NCAA regional-qualifying marks this season. Despite the uncertain weather, Bedard thinks that several athletes have a chance to post regional-qualifying marks.

“With the altitude conversion at this track, there is a pretty good opportunity for our middle-distance and distance runners to post good times,” said Bedard. “We have a good number of athletes that are close to those times and hopefully we can get them over the hump.”

Following Sunday’s action, the Rams will return home to host the Glenn Morris multi-event meet on April 23-24 and the Jack Christiansen Invite on April 25.
