Rams track and field improves regional-qualifying total to 13

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State track and field team added four new regional qualifiers this past weekend, giving the Rams 13 athletes who have already qualified for the NCAA regional meet, hosted by the University of Oklahoma on May 29-30.

The Rams added a pair of new qualifiers at the Oregon Relays on Friday as freshman Spenser Lynass and sophomore Jake Keyser both regionally qualified in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at historic Hayward Field. Lynass posted a time of 9 minutes, 4.94 seconds, to finish second in the event, while Keyser finished third with a time of 9:06.85.

Senior thrower Missy Faubus also had a strong showing at Oregon, posting another regional-qualifying mark in the discus by throwing 165 feet, 9 inches, to finish in second in the event. Freshman Nicole Peters also improved her mark in the 5,000-meter run as she finished fourth in the stacked field with a time of 16:44.04.

The two newest regional qualifiers for the Rams set their marks on Saturday afternoon at the Jack Christiansen Track in Fort Collins. Junior Doug Dieker tied for the third-highest pole vault in school history with a mark of 16-6.75 to set a personal best. Fellow junior Tyson Williams also regionally qualified in the shot put, with a toss of 57-3.
