Next on the tee...
The No. 24/29 Colorado State men’s golf team travels to Galloway, N.J., to compete in the 2009 NCAA Regional tournament, hosted by Columbia University, Thursday-Saturday.  The tournament is a three-day, 54-hole competition with 18 holes played each day, beginning at 6:30 a.m. MT.  The Rams enter the the touranment as the No. 6 seed, the highest seeding in the programs’s history, and must finish in the top five to advance to the NCAA Championships, which will take place May 26-30 in Toledo, Ohio. 

The course...
The regional tournament is held at the Galloway National Golf Club. The par-71, 7,022-yard course is located in Galloway, N.J.

The field...
Colorado State enters ranked 29th in the nation in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin performance index and 24th in the Golf World/Nike coaches’ poll. On Day 1, the Rams will be paired with No. 24 Tennessee and No. 28 Wake Forest. The other competing teams will be No. 6 Clemson, No. 11 Alabama, No. 12 Illinois, Kent State, No. 46 Coastal Carolina, Virginia, Penn State, Minnesota, VCU, Columbia and Sacred Heart. The five individual golfers are Kevin O’Connell of North Carolina, Dan Woltman of Wisconsin, Robert Karlsson of Liberty, Peter Williamson of Dartmouth, and Eric Hawerchak of Central Connecticut

Competing in the tournament for the Rams will be senior Zen Brown, juniors Bryce Hanstad, Dustin Morris and Riley Arp, and freshman Zahkai Brown.

Notes...
•   If the Rams can finish in the top five in Galloway this weekend, they will have their ninth top-five finish of the season, tying the school record set in the 2003-04 season when the Rams won a progam-best five team titles, a record the team has already tied this season.
•  Zahkai Brown’s 11th-place finish at the MWC championship moved him into second in the conference for stroke average with a 71.48, behind Dustin Morris who is shooting 71.21 strokes per round. Also in the top five is Zen Brown with a 71.58 in fourth. Bryce Hanstad and Riley Arp are in sixth and seventh, respectively.
•  If Zen Brown plays all three rounds this weekend, he will move into third in school history for career rounds played, tying Nigel Spence at 143. Only Martin Laird and Robby Stephenson will have played more rounds as members of the CSU men’s golf team.
•  After the MWC championship, Zahkai Brown was named MWC Freshman of the Year with the second lowest stroke average among any player in the conference (71.48). Zen Brown and Dustin Morris were also honored, making the all-conference team - the second time for both student-athletes.
