FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Brandon Ribble and Emily DeVries have joined the Colorado State track and field team, Head Coach Brian Bedard announced Wednesday.
Both will be redshirt freshmen this season for the Rams and both will run hurdles.
Ribble is a transfer from Wyoming, where he practiced but did not play in football as a 2008 true freshman with the Cowboys. CSU filed an intra-conference transfer waiver to make him able to compete this year in track, and the waiver was approved by the Mountain West Conference. A product of Ralston Valley High School in Arvada, Colo., Ribble took second in the 2008 Colorado state high school meet with a time in the 110-meter high hurdles of 14.61 seconds. He also finished the 300-meter hurdles in 37.89.
A transfer from North Dakota State, DeVries hails from Rapid City, S.D., where she attended Stevens High School. She was the 2007 state champion in the 100-meter high hurdles (14.70). She also finished the 300-meter hurdles in 43.68 to earn another state championship. Track transfers don’t have to sit out for a year, so DeVries also will immediately contribute for the Rams. She did not compete at NDSU as a true freshman.
