FORT COLLINS, Colo. –
The Colorado State volleyball program added outside hitter Kaila Thomas on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period. Head Coach Tom Hilbert made the announcement.

Thomas joins the Rams as a 6-1 outside hitter from Murrieta, Calif., with an impressive resume, including being named to the all-league team four consecutive years, and recognized by the highly regarded Prepvolleyball.com throughout her high-school career.

A player for the prestigious Laguna Beach Volleyball Club, Thomas is currently in the first round of the CIF playoffs with Calvary Murrieta High School. Although Thomas takes courses at Biola Star, a home-schooling program, she is still eligible to play for Calvary Murrieta.  She currently leads the Warriors in digs, blocks, and aces.

Thomas is ranked No. 35 on Prepvolleyball.com’s “The Senior Aces,” a list of the top seniors in the nation. As a junior she was named league MVP, scholar athlete, first-team all-valley, and second-team all-CIF.  She is also listed on the 2010-11 Under Armour Girl’s High School All-America Watch List.

Hilbert on Thomas: “Kaila is a really good volleyball player; she’s 6-feet tall and plays all the way around. She plays for one of the best volleyball clubs in the United States. We’ve traditionally signed really good athletes and had to give them a lot of training, but she’s pretty advanced in her training already.”
