FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State on Friday will host the men's and women's hammer throw for the Northern Colorado Tom Benich Classic. The remainder of the team will be competing at the meet held on Saturday at Nottingham Field in Greeley, Colo.

Meanwhile, junior Kristen Kugler is competing in the heptathlon event at the Texas Relays Wednesday and Thursday this week.

CSU elected to host the hammer event Friday at Jack Christiansen Track because Northern Colorado does not have a safe hammer cage for the competitors, officials or spectators. Hosting the hammer throwers in the region gives throwers an opportunity to compete in the event, which would have otherwise been canceled.

Friday's hammer throw will begin at 2 p.m. with the women, followed by the men. The Rams' throwers will be Meagan Berg, Leah Elmshauser, Serena Johnson, Jenna Sliwinski, Emily Geubelle, Cameron Carter, Ian Lettow, Alex Pott, Carson Rowley and Tyson Williams.
