PROVO, Utah - The Colorado State women's tennis team completed the final day at the BYU Invitational Saturday afternoon. Veronika Wojakowska made it to the finals of the back draw of the 'A' singles flight before falling in straight sets.
After defeating teammate Kaley Schultz due to an injury suffered by Schultz early in the second set of the semifinals, senior Wojakowska, faced Utah State's Hailey Swenson, who was seeded eighth in the tournament in the consolation bracket of the 'A' singles flight.
Despite falling to Aubrey Paul in round 1 Thursday, Wojakowska went on to earn wins in the first round, quarterfinals and semifinals matches of the back draw. She finished the tournament with a 3-2 record.
In spite of encountering several injuries for the Rams, newcomers Kaitlin Wooldridge, Lauren Pick, and Schultz were able to come out of their first collegian tournament with a few wins. Wooldridge made it to the finals of her singles bracket before falling 6-0, 6-0, matching Wojakowska's tournament record of 3-2.
The CSU tennis team continues its fall schedule on Sept. 24 and 25 when hosting its first home invitational, featuring Weber State and the University of Northern Colorado, at the Rams brand new $2 million tennis facility.
