Men's golf preview: Rams tee off in Erie Monday

The Rams play their last Colorado tournament of the 2010-11 season this weekend in Erie, Colo. CSU will be competing in the inagural Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational Mondayand Tuesday. The tournament will open with 36 holes Monday beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The final round will be played Tuesday morning.
The inagural CGA Collegiate High School Championship will also be played in conjuction with the Colorado Invitational. Eight of the state's top prep golfers will compete alongside their collegiate counterparts to get a taste of college golf.
The course
This weekend's tournament will be held at the 7,741-yard, par-72 Colorado National Golf Club (CNGC) in Erie, which is located about 12 miles east of Boulder. The CNGC will be the host site of NCAA regionals in 2011 (men) and 2012 (women).
The field
Fourteen schools and 13 individuals will be competing in the tournament for a 91-man field. CSU will be competing against Air Force, BYU, Colorado, Denver, Kansas, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, San Jose State, Southern Utah, Texas-El Paso, Utah and Wyoming.
Rams lineup
Ryan Peterson, Zahkai Brown, Kirby Pettitt and Kory Harrell will be representing the Rams in Erie this weekend. The fifth spoth on the team will be filled by either Jackson Giro, Scott Newton or Richard Schneider, with the other two competing as individuals.
