FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Saturday's men's basketball game against No. 9 BYU will mean more than an opportunity to notch one of the biggest wins in CSU's history.
CSU is teaming up with RamStrength, a local non-profit that provides financial assistance for all types of cancer survivors in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado, to host "White Out Cancer Night," where fans are encouraged to wear white clothing to the game. The first 2,000 fans to enter Moby Arena will receive a free, white RamStrength T-shirt, courtesy of The Mtn.
Because CSU is expecting its largest crowd of the season, the athletic department again will designate the door on the northeast concourse as a student entrance, to reduce lines for all fans. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. contest which will be broadcast live on The Mtn.
The event is also in support of the National Association of Basketball Coaches "Coaches vs. Cancer" weekend, which officially occurs the weekend of Jan. 28-30 when the Rams will be traveling to take on the Utah Utes.
Both team's athletic programs have recently had high-profile staff fight cancer. CSU Athletic Director Paul Kowalczyk and BYU men's basketball head coach Dave Rose have each undergone successful cancer treatments within the last two years.
To date, RamStrength has raised over $400,000 to help people fight cancer. Fans can learn more about RamStrength, and donate online, at www.ramstrength.org.
Tickets for the game are available at the McGraw Center ticket office, by calling 1-800/491-RAMS, or online at www.csurams.com. Adult tickets are $15 and youth tickets are $8.
In addition to "White Out Cancer Night", Saturday's game is also a Jason's Deli Kids Night, where youngsters can shoot free throws on the court after the game and get autographs from CAM the Ram.
