Tennis recap: Rams conclude Day 1 of Gaucho Classic

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The Colorado State women's tennis team concluded day one of the Gaucho Classic in Santa Barbara, Calif. notching three victories throughout the day, while extending three player's winning streaks to four matches.

Despite experiencing a tough day of singles, the Rams appear to have found the right combination when it comes to doubles. Colorado State won two of the three matches played Friday.

In singles, the Rams were defeated in all but one match. Although losing her match, Tori Arneson came close to a win, forcing her match to a third set decision before falling 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Freshman, Natalie Heffron was the only Ram to notch a victory on the courts Friday. Heffron defeated her Cal Poly opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. The win extended Heffron's winning streak to four matches.

In doubles, the Rams won two of the three matches played.

Lauren Mulhern and Kaley Schultz extended their winning streak as a pair to four matches after defeating their Cal Poly opponents, 8-3.

Colorado State will return to the courts tomorrow morning to continue matches at the Gaucho Classic.
