This week’s notable storylines…

  • CSU and Air Force meet for the 50th renewal of their series, which began in 1957. They’ve met every season since 1978, Steve Fairchild’s first season as the Rams’ starting quarterback. Air Force has won five straight.
  • The Rams are especially grateful for Thanksgiving, and the corresponding CSU fall break (no classes all week), getting extra practice time to prepare for the Falcons’ unique attack.
  • The Ram-Falcon Trophy, originated in 1980, goes to the victor.
  • The Rams haven’t had gone consecutive games without allowing a sack, something they can do Saturday, since Oct. 31-Nov. 7, 2009, vs. Air Force and at UNLV. Prior to Saturday at No. 19 TCU, CSU had allowed a sack in 23 straight games.
  • CSU during its current five-game slide is minus-five in turnover margin.
  • For the first time since 1973, CSU is playing three of its final four regular-season games at home, this year closing the slate with a pair of heated Front Range rivalries in Fort Collins, Air Force and Wyoming.
  • All three Rams starting linebackers rank in the top six of the MW leaders in tackles per game.
  • CSU looks to get back into the win column for the first time since Sept. 24.
  • Injuries to 11 starters have conspired to cost the Rams 60 combined starts. Overall, 15 contributors have lost 78 total games due to injury.
