KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Colorado State senior forwards Andy Ogide and Travis Franklin have earned all-district first-team and second-team honors, respectively. The announcement was made Wednesday by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
Ogide joins BYU’s Jimmer Fredette, San Diego State’s Kawhi Leonard and D.J. Gay, and Utah’s Will Clyburn on the District 17 first team. It is the second consecutive all-district honor for the Marietta, Ga., native, after he earned second-team honors as a junior in 2010.
Franklin was joined on the second team by New Mexico’s Dairese Gary and Drew Gordon, UNLV’s Tre’Von Willis and BYU’s Jackson Emery. It marks his first career all-district nod.
Ogide and Franklin ranked first and second, respectively, for the Rams in scoring. Ogide also paced CSU in rebounding while Franklin ranked third. The duo helped lead the Rams to the program’s most wins (19) since 2002-03.
Ogide averaged 17.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, while ranking among the national leaders with a .590 shooting percentage. He eclipsed 1,000 points and 600 rebounds in his career at CSU becoming the sixth player in program history to reach both milestones. He was selected as a first-team all-MWC honoree earlier in the week.
Franklin posted 11.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, while leading the team in steals (42) and free throws made (134) and attempted (207), en route to honorable mention all-MWC accolades.
The NABC all-district teams are made up of 245 student-athletes from 24 districts. Those players, including Ogide and Franklin, are now eligible for the State Farm Coaches’ Division I All-America teams, which will be announced on Saturday, April 2, at 9:30 a.m. MT during the NABC Convention at the NCAA Final Four in Houston, Texas.
The Rams closed play at the 2011 Conoco Mountain West Conference tournament with an overall record of 19-12, finishing fourth in a historically strong conference. The team now awaits postseason tournament selections Sunday evening.
