DENVER, Colo. – The Colorado Running Hall of Fame announced its class of 2011 inductees Tuesday, including former Colorado State standout Libbie Hickman.
Hickman graduated in 1987 as one of CSU’s most decorated track and cross country athletes, earning All-America honors her senior season.
While at CSU, Hickman was the 1987 conference champion in the 3,000 meters and was inducted into the Colorado State University Hall of Fame in 1997.
She went on to be named the top female road racer in 1991, 1998 and 2000 by Runner’s World magazine. In 1997 she became the first American woman in 14 years to win the Bolder Boulder 10K. The pinnacle of her career came at the 2000 Sydney Olympic games, where Hickman competed in the 10,000 meters.
Hickman, a former teammate of Colorado State track and field Head Coach Brian Bedard, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame along with four other athletes, Steve Flanagan, Parthenia Jones, John Meyer and Bette Poppers.
“The Colorado Running Hall of Fame honors an array of very special people,” said Creigh Kelley, race director of the Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon. “The inductees are chosen for their contribution to the sport and our state.”
The fifth annual induction ceremony for the class of 2011 will be held Tuesday at the Denver Athletic Club
