Men's golf preview: Rams tee off at NCAA Regional

The CSU men's golf team is headed to Erie, Colo., for the Boulder regional of the NCAA tournament. The Rams are competing in their 11th regional in 12 years. The tournament will include three days of competition, 18 holes each day. The Rams have a No. 11 seed heading into the 54-hole tournament.
The course
The NCAA regional will be played at the Colorado National Golf Club. The course is par 72 stretching 7,676 yards. Colorado National is the University of Colorado's golf teams' home course. CU will serve host to the 2011 regional.
The field
The 13-team field includes, No.1 seed Oklahoma State, No. 2 seed Georgia, No. 3 seed Auburn, No.4 seed Arizona State, No. 5 seed Clemson, No. 6 seed Chattanooga, No 7. seed TCU, No. 8 seed North Florida, No. 9 seed New Mexico State, No. 10 seed Northwestern, No. 11 seed Colorado State, No. 12 seed San Jose State and No. 13 seed Denver.
Rams lineup
Ryan Peterson, Zahkai Brown, Kirby Pettitt, Kory Harrell and Mike Sorenson will be swinging for the Rams in Erie. Peterson was just shy of his second Mountain West title May 7, at the MWC championship. He lost in a playoff to UNLV's Derek Ernst. Sorenson placed seventh. The Rams placed eighth in last year's regional, four strokes away from advancing to the finals. The team looks to make the next step to the NCAA finals Thursday.
