CSU's Peterson named PING all-region

STILLWATER, Okla. – Colorado State’s Ryan Peterson has been named to the PING all-region team in the west region. The Golf Coaches Association of America made the announcement Wednesday.
The senior led the Rams this season with six top 10 finishes and eight finishes in the top 20. He was named Mountain West Golfer of the Month for September after what would tie for a season-low three-round score of 207 in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. Peterson was also named to the MW all-conference team for the second consecutive year.
“This is a great honor for Ryan and he is very deserving of this award,” said Head Coach Jamie Bermel. “He played real well all year and was a key factor in getting the team to nationals.”
Now playing in the NCAA championship, Peterson is currently second among all MW golfers with a stroke average of 71.44. He placed first in two tournaments this year, including a near repeat for the title at the MW championships in May. Tied in first place with two other golfers, Peterson lost in a playoff, narrowly missing the individual medal.
A native of Eagan, Minn., Peterson will continue his golf career after the Rams wrap up at the NCAA championship in Stillwater, Okla., this week.
