FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Colorado State will host a two-day tennis tournament Saturday and Sunday at the Rams’ new $2 million University Tennis Complex.

The event, held on CSU’s new courts south of the main campus on Research Drive, north of Drake, is part of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Summer Circuit. The primary focus of the circuit is to provide incoming freshmen and other collegiate players the chance to compete in the summer months.

However, the event is open to any competitor as long as he/she is a current ITA member.

The ITA Summer Circuit is currently made up of eight regional circuits (East, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, Central, Mountain, Texas and West), consisting of four consecutive open tournaments played during the month of July, leading up to the USTA/ITA National Summer Championships in Bloomington, Ind., in August.

The CSU tournament is the last on the schedule for the ITA Mountain Region. Events were previously held at CU (July 9-10) and DU (July 16-18).

Play begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and continues beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
