Rams quick hits
• The Colorado State men's basketball team has won eight straight games entering Saturday's matchup vs. Wyoming, the program's longest win streak since a nine-game stretch in 2006-07.
• Entering play this week, CSU ranks among the nation's top 10 in free-throw percentage (seventh), field-goal percentage, (sixth) and three-point percentage (fifth). CSU is the only team in the nation to rank among the top-10 in each category.
• During the Rams' current eight-game winning streak, junior guards Dorian Green and Wes Eikmeier have been the Rams' 1-2 scoring punch. Green leads the Rams averaging 17.0 points per game, while Eikmeier has poured in an average of 16.8 points since CSU's Dec. 19 victory over Texas Southern sparked the team's hot streak.
• Over the last three seasons, Colorado State has been impressive against its front-range rivals - Colorado, Northern Colorado, Denver, Wyoming and Air Force - posting a 14-3 mark dating back to the start of the 2009-10 season.
• The Rams are off to a 2-0 start in MW play for just the third time since the formation of the conference in 1999-2000. A win on Saturday would give the Rams their best start as a member of the Mountain West.
• Colorado State has been excellent this season in close games, posting a 7-1 mark in contests decided by 10 or fewer points, with narrow victories over Montana, Manhattan, Colorado, UTEP, Denver and TCU. The Rams' lone loss in a game decided by 10 or fewer points came at Northern Iowa.
About Wyoming
• Wyoming enters Saturday's contest with a 15-3 record and a 1-1 conference record, following Wednesday's road victory over Air Force, 64-53.
• The Cowboys have posted an impressive 11-1 mark in home games this season, with the lone setback coming last week in the team's conference opener vs. preseason favorite New Mexico (72-62).
• The Cowboys have won four of their last five games since a Dec. 19 setback at Denver (57-46).
• Head coach Larry Shyatt is in the first season of his second stint at Wyoming where he is 34-12. Overall, Shyatt has posted a career mark of 104-96 in seven seasons as a head coach at UW and Clemson.
• The Cowboys offense is led by junior guard Luke Martinez who ranks seventh in the MW scoring 13.4 points per contest.
• Junior forward Leonard Washington ranks as the team's top rebounder, pulling down 6.3 boards per game to rank fifth in the MW.
• As a team, the Cowboys lead the Mountain West in scoring defense, giving up just 53.2 points per game, while ranking seventh in the league in scoring offense (66.7 ppg.).
• The contest will feature an intriguing strength-on-strength matchup as the Rams enter the contest as the MW leaders in three-point percentage (.437), while the Cowboys have held opponents to an MW-leading 29.7 percent from long range this season.
Series vs. Wyoming
• Tuesday's matchup between the Rams and Broncos marks the 214th in the series between the two programs.
• Wyoming leads the series, 128-85.
• The Border War versus Wyoming is one of the Rams' oldest and fiercest rivalries. Dating all the way back to the 1910-11 season, the Rams have faced off against the Cowboys 214 times, more than 50 games more than any other opponent.
• Since the initial meeting, the two teams have met at least once each season, except for during the 1922-23 season.
• In 27 matchups since the formation of the Mountain West Conference in 1999-2000, the Rams trail 15-12, but CSU have won 10 of the last 17 meetings entering Saturday's contest.
• Head Coach Tim Miles is 5-4 vs. Wyoming in five seasons at CSU.
A win over Wyoming will...
• Move the Rams to 14-4 to open the 2011-12 season.
• Give Colorado State a nine-game winning streak, the programs' longest since a nine-game streak early in the 2006-07 season.
• Put the Rams in the win column for the fourth straight game away from Moby Arena, with road wins at Northern Colorado and at UTEP, and a neutral-site victory over Jacksonville State.
• Push the Rams win streak over rival Wyoming to five consecutive matchups, CSU's longest streak against Wyoming since a nine-game stretch from 1970-75.
• Move the all-time series between the Rams and the Cowboys to 128-85 in favor of Wyoming.
• Give the Rams a 3-0 start to the 2012 MW schedule, the Rams' best conference start since the formation of the league in 1999-2000.
