FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Caroline Young, a junior utility player for the Colorado State women’s water polo team, has been nominated for the Department of Animal Sciences 2012 Outstanding Equine Sciences Student Award.
Each candidate was nominated by a professor within the department, and will be honored at the seventh annual Department of Animal Sciences Spring Branding Banquet, Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Hilton Fort Collins at 5:30 p.m. One nominee from each class will be selected that evening.
Criteria to determine this year’s winners include GPA, the student’s resume, three references, a biography explaining how he or she intends to utilize his/her degree and the nominee’s top three values.
Young, a Lighthouse Point, Fla., native, is an animal science major with a minor in agriculture business. She has been involved with CSU’s pre-vet club and the Sigma Alpha Nu chapter during her time at CSU. She is also a two-time academic all-WWPA selection.
In the pool, the student-athlete has had a strong start to the 2012 season. In nine games, she has scored 16 goals, which ranks sixth in the nation. She also has 10 assists (fifth nationally), which combines for 26 total points (second in the nation).
