LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Four Colorado State water players were honored by the Western Water Polo Association on Friday, as Kallie Berry, Michelle Slagle, Stephanie Weed and Caroline Young were each named to the academic all-WWPA team.
The award is Berry and Young’s third and Weed’s second. In all, 62 student-athletes were selected for their work in the classroom. In order to earn recognition by the conference, one must hold a 3.0 cumulative GPA, play in at least 50 percent of her team’s games and be classified as a full-time student who has completed a minimum of one semester at her institution.
What’s more, each of the four were named academic All-Americans earlier this month by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. The team as a whole was also honored for being one of 13 Division-I programs with a team cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Berry graduated from CSU with a degree in apparel & merchandising in May, while Slagle, Weed and Young will return to the pool for the 2013 season.
