CSU alum Janay DeLoach competes today in Olympic Long Jump

LONDON, England - Former Colorado State track and field All-American Janay DeLoach, ranked No. 2 in the world in the long jump, competes today in the preliminary round of the event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
The prelims begin at noon (MDT) today for DeLoach, who earned a silver medal at the 2012 indoor World Championships in March. The top 12 athletes from the preliminary rounds will advance to the finals, which are set to begin at 1 p.m. (MDT) on Wednesday.
DeLoach, who will wear bib number 3284, will jump 12th in the order of 16 competitors in Group B. There are 32 athletes total in the two groups.
DeLoach is the two-time defending U.S. indoor champion, and finished fifth at the 2011 World Championships. She qualified for the Olympics by placing third at the U.S. Olympic Trials in June.
The Fort Collins resident has a degree in psychology and human development, and a master's degree in occupational therapy, from CSU.
