CHICAGO, Ill. -- CSU signee Aaliyah Pete won the shot put in her age group at the Chicagoland Throws Series Saturday, with a throw of 52 feet 3.25 inches. That mark ranks her No. 2 in the country among high school shot putters this season.

“I think Aaliyah is just scratching the surface regarding her potential,” said Head Coach Brian Bedard. “She's an outstanding athlete that will make a big impact for the Rams right away in the shot, and with her foot speed could be a special hammer thrower for CSU.”

Hosted by Benedictine University, the Chicagoland Throws Series brings in the best throwers from across the country from the high school and open divisions.

The throw would rank in the top five all-time at Colorado State.
