Rams quick hits
• The 2014-15 season marks the 112th in the history of the Colorado State men's basketball program. The Rams are 1,172-1,195 (.495) in 2,367 games all-time.
• Colorado State enters the 2014-15 men's basketball season under the direction of coaching veteran Larry Eustachy who begins his third season at the helm of the Rams' program and his 24th as a Division I head coach.
• Colorado State basketball is looking for its fifth postseason appearance in six years, and its third NCAA Tournament berth in four seasons, in 2014-15.
• Colorado State returns a majority of its production from a season ago, a stark contrast to the Rams' transition from 2012-13 to 2013-14 after graduating five senior starters.
• Overall, the Rams' roster breaks down to six returning players, including starters Daniel Bejarano, J.J. Avila and Joe De Ciman, plus nine newcomers. However, three of the nine newcomers - senior Stanton Kidd, junior Tiel Daniels and sophomore John Gillon - practiced with the squad last season while redshirting as transfers from NCAA Division I programs.
• Colorado State's 2014-15 schedule is rated among the toughest in the Mountain West. Based on last season's final RPI rankings for known Division I opponents, the Rams' schedule ranks first with an average of 127.6, ahead of UNLV (134.3), Boise State (140.1), Fresno State (140.7) and Wyoming (145.3).

About Georgia State
• Georgia State enters Friday's contest with a 1-1 record to open the season, including a home win over Tennessee Temple (115-55) last Friday, and a road loss at No. 14/14 Iowa State (81-58) on Monday.
• The Panthers are the defending Sun Belt Conference regular-season champions, posting a 25-9 overall record en route to an appearance in the 2014 NIT.
• The Panthers are led by head coach Ron Hunter, who is 337-257 (.567) in his 21st season as a Division I head coach, including a 63-38 (.624) mark in his fourth season at GSU.
• Georgia State returns eight letterwinners, including a trio of starters in senior guard Ryan Harrow and senior forward Curtis Washington, who transferred from Kentucky and USC, respectively, and junior guard R.J. Hunter.
• R.J. Hunter, head coach Ron Hunter's son, is the defending SBC Player of the Year, and is one of 50 players nationally named to the Preseason John R. Wooden Award watch list.
• Through two games Hunter leads the Panthers in minutes (31.5), points (22.5), three-pointers (9) and assists (12).
• Harrow ranks second on the team in scoring behind Hunter, pouring in 18.5 points per contest, while dishing out 11 assists through two contests.
• The Panthers' roster also features junior guard Kevin Ware, a member of Louisville's 2013 National Championship team that notably suffered a broken leg during the Cardinals' Elite Eight win over Duke.

Series vs. Georgia State
• Friday's matchup between Colorado State and Georgia State marks the first in the series between the two programs.

A win over  Georgia State will...
• Give third-year head coach Larry Eustachy his 44th win at Colorado State and the 446th of his career.
• Move the Rams to 2-0 to start the season at home, the third consecutive season that the Rams have started 2-0 or better at home under Eustachy.
• Give the Rams a 1-0 advantage in the all-time series vs. Georgia State, and head coach Larry Eustachy's record vs. the Panthers to 2-1.
• Make Colorado State 10-3 all-time in regular-season games against the current membership of the Sun Belt Conference, and run the Rams' overall win streak vs. SBC teams to three straight games.
• Will extend CSU's home court win streak to four games. The Rams are 31-7 at Moby Arena under head coach Larry Eustachy.
• Push the Rams to 11-2 under Larry Eustachy in games played in November, including a 9-0 mark at Moby Arena.

Eustachy vs. Georgia State
• CSU Head coach Larry Eustachy is 1-1 in his 24-year career against Georgia State.
• Both previous matchups took place on neutral courts.
• Eustachy first faced the Georgia State on Dec. 18, 1992 during his tenure at Idaho. Eustachy's Vandals captured a 70-64 win over the Panthers.
• Eustachy's Southern Miss squad faced Georgia State on Nov. 20, 2004, falling to the Panthers 70-68.

Rams vs. the Sun Belt Conference
• Colorado State is 9-3 all-time against the current 11-team membership of the Sun Belt Conference.
• The Rams are 6-1 in home games against Sun Belt foes, 2-2 on the road, and 1-0 in neutral-site contests.
• Colorado State is 3-0 against Arkansas State, 2-0 against UT Arlington, 0-2 against Arkansas-Little Rock, 1-1 against South Alabama, and 1-0 against Texas State, Troy and Appalachian State. CSU has never faced Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Georgia Southern, or Friday's opponent, Georgia State.
• The Rams have won two consecutive games against Sun Belt opponents, defeating Appalachian State on a neutral floor, 82-79, in 2010-11, and capturing an 83-65 home victory over Texas State in 2004-05.
• The Rams' last loss to a Sun Belt squad overall came at Arkansas-Little Rock, 84-75, in 2002-03, while CSU's last home loss vs. the SBC also came at the hands of the Trojans (88-79) in 2001-02.

Rams in home openers
• Following CSU's win over Montana on Nov. 15, Colorado State is 86-25 (.775) all-time in regular-season home openers dating back to the program's first game, a 64-15 victory over Northern Colorado, in 1901-02.
• Colorado State has now won 34 consecutive home openers at Moby Arena.
• The Rams' last home-opening loss was a 79-64 setback vs. Oklahoma State on Dec. 8, 1980.  That game marked the home coaching debut of Tony McAndrews, and was the first home game in Fort Collins after the retirement of legendary head coach Jim "J.J." Williams at the end of the 1979-80 season.

Looking ahead
• Colorado State has a quick turnaround for a Sunday evening tilt vs. Mercer, the defending Atlantic Sun tournament champions that upset Duke in a 14 vs. 3 matchup in the second round of the 2014 NCAA tournament.
• The tilt between the Rams and the Bears is set for a 6 p.m. MT tipoff at Moby Arena.
• The game will air across the Colorado State Radio Network, including flagship 105.5 FM ESPN, with Gary Miller and Brian Roth.
• Free streaming video of the matchup between the Rams and the Bears is available via the Mountain West Network at CSURams.com/videos and TheMW.com.
• GameTracker live statistics are also available at CSURams.com.
• The matchup will mark the first in the series between Colorado State and Mercer.
