FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State women’s basketball head coach Ryun Williams announced Thursday that the Rams have inked Sofie Tryggedsson Preetzmann to a National Letter of Intent.

Along with her future teammate Emilie Hesseldal, Tryggedsson is the second player to join the Rams from Aarhus, Denmark. The two never played on the same team, but were a part of the same club organization.

A 6-0 guard, Tryggedsson plays for Aabyhøj Basketball in Denmark. She’s the team’s leading scorer, averaging 15.3 points per game. She also hauls in an impressive 7.2 rebounds and dishes out 2.5 assists per matchup. In the team’s most recent game, Tryggedsson posted 27 points and 12 rebounds. It was her second consecutive 20-point contest.

“Sofie is a very talented player,” commented Williams. “She is a 6-0 point guard who plays with great toughness and can also really shoot it. There is no substitute for making baskets and Sofie is very good at doing that. We are very excited that she has decided to join our program.”

In her first season with Aabyhøj, Tryggedsson averaged 14.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

Tryggedsson also played for the Danish national team in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In 2011 she played eight games, leading the team in points and rebound. She averaged 16.6 and 8.1, respectively, while shooting .452 inside the arc. Tryggedsson posted two double-doubles that year and three games with 20 or more points.

Tryggedsson is the second signee the Rams added during the early signing period, joining Colorado native, Callie Kaiser. Both will join the team as freshman in the fall of 2015.
